Petrushka
Composed by Igor Stravinsky
The main setting of the story is in America during the 1920s, during the peak of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Greatest Show on Earth circus act. The character of the magician is loosely based on the likeness of John Ringling, while including elements of the classic circus ringmaster. The title role, Petrushka, is based on the famous circus clown Otto Griebling. The Ballerina will be styled after classic 1920s ballet silhouettes; adorned with art deco accoutrement. The "Exotic" will be renamed "Tancerz" ("the dancer" in Polish) and will be a traditional Polish folk dancer.
